International Christian Center Renovation
There is a move afoot by the leadership of the International Christian Center (where we hold our monthly meetings) to make better use of their property. The process is in the information-gathering stage at this point (August 2008). To that end, Pastor PT has had talks with District One City Council Member Pete Constant, and he has addressed LNA meetings twice eliciting suggestions for what we want and don't want.
Pete Constant has requested advice from all the appropriate San Jose city departments, and that process will take some time.
ICC neighbors along Madonna Drive, Lynn Oaks Drive, and Eden Avenue are the most affected by any change to the property, and to this point Madonna Drive residents have been pretty active in investigating the possibilities and making their preferences known. This subject will likely come up at most LNA meetings from here on, so all interested (particularly ICC neighbors on Madonna, Lynn Oaks, and Eden) may wish to attend meetings or at least check out meeting minutes.
Madonna Drive residents have been actively working this issue, and out of one meeting came a series of concept diagrams (PDF, 1.7 MB) that are well worth reviewing. Keep in mind that nothing is settled, even though "housing for church members" seems to come up relatively often, and Pete Constant is pushing for a park.
